The Farm Journal

Paper Kites. Apparently one does not need to make their kite out of plastic. I don't find this to be of any surprise, seeing how we have been enjoying paper flight for centuries.

What concerns me about this project is the weight of the thread.

On another subject, I am considering animal husbandry out here in
Nonesuch Valley as a means of income. For some odd reason butchery doesn't appall me. Has anyone raised goats for market Apparently it is big with the Greek community in WNC. I first came up with the goat idea after reading a book by Barbara Kingsolver where a woman saved her farm by raising goats for the Jewish holidays.

the weight is less important than the strength. a very tight weave is good.

The weight of the thread used to sew the pieces of paper together
to comprise the sail of the kite?

Patchwork kite.

A kite of many colors.

Patrick, I had no idea you were so well informed about kites AND kindred spirits. The use of "well" gave you away.

I am wondering if it is possible to build a kite out of paper scraps sewn together...Any ideas? (:

what I was thinking was use a light tissue paper as a backing and place your many colors on top. Not too sure the best way to put it all together, but I think its a sound idea. keep me posted :)

My artwork is on artgrade weight paper....not tissue. Is this an issue to not use tissue?

I was thinkin that the tissue could be used as a ground for the rest...I used to make kites out of newspaper so it shouldnt be a problem. its all about lift and wind...diamond kites are ez, boxkites need more wind.
