The Farm Journal
Don't underestimate the power of "squaw wood." I am supposed to be insulted by the term for dead wood that native ladies gathered, but I'm not. I think it's kind of charming actually. I could gather up heaps of squaw wood till the cows come home.
I like to take a sturdy tapestry out to the woods and pile broken up pieces of the dead wood onto the tapestry, then drag it home. It catches quickly, and saves me from having to chop.
