The Farm journal

The summer we loved you was the summer you made bad choices, but I was okay with that. The summer we loved you was the summer my goats took flight 5 feet into the air in what looked like wild abandon, but was likely a calculated angle. The summer we loved you, I cut out the silouttes of a sparrow, heron and osprey, and agreed with Ben that the air smelt as though we had moved to the beach. The summer we loved you I fell down in rollerskates on the dance floor. I fell on my bottom. Black sequins left behind like love notes to you. The summer we loved you I thought about rye bread while cutting the alphabet out of advertisements from the local Sunday paper.
You know what they say, Fall is in the air.

Oh how I wish you still wrote for the Noise. We all miss your words. Couldn't you still write from afar? You did it once.
